Some people say we are in a post-racial society? What do you think?
For some things color really doesn’t matter. Being the Glue is one of them. Gender doesn’t even matter. For AFIYA, we will reference women only, but it isn’t limited to just women.
Being the Glue is something that I fortunately but unfortunately experienced right before hell in my life broke loose. I was doing a lot and about to launch a new arm of my business so that I could be independent again and slowly “family matters” distracted me. Then one day an aunt told me that I was the glue. While I very nicely but vehemently argued the fact, she stated, “Your mom said she doesn’t know what she would do without you.” It hit me, I was the glue. But I didn’t want to be. Not then. Not ever.
